Transformational Writing with Jennifer Lauck: Q & A
How do we get started?
- You set three appointments with me.
- Pay via check or Paypal on line.
- Gather up your writing.
Chose what writing you'd like to submit: poetry, journal work, prose, fiction. Send me, via email, what you would like me to read. At the most, you can submit ten pages, double-spaced.
- "But Jennifer, I am not a writer!"
You are not required to be a writer. If you do not have writing, you have some homework. Write something. Anything. Here are some prompts:
- write about the happiest day of your life
- write about the worst day of your life
- write about your life right at this moment
- write about your biggest secret
- write about your greatest victory
- write a poem about this moment, trying to write and not being able.
Rest easy. Writing well is not the point of our time together. There is no judgment about writing ability. In fact, there is no judgment at all. My work is to help you begin a steady and healing dialogue with yourself.
Writing is a powerful tool of awakening, healing and transformation. All you need to do is write and the rest will unfold.
- Call on our appointed times, meet at my office or set up the Video Conferencing session.
- We will talk and you will read your work. If you are not comfortable, I will read your work and then we will begin what I call "pointing out" instruction. I will "point out" what is going on in your writing and ask you to re-write based on what I've seen. Or I will guide you to write another body of work, based on the inspiration of what you have written initially.
- Follow up sessions will be to address the re-write and the same "pointing out" technique will be applied.
- By your third appointment, we will be quite deep into your process and will see what is there for you to look at and work out. You can, at that time, chose to continue our work together becoming a weekly or bi-monthly student or take your writing practice on your own for a while.
What are your hours?
Sat. 12:30-4:00
Sun. 11:00-2:30
Where do we meet?
If you are in Portland, we can arrange a meeting at my office or if you are long distance, we can do Video Conferencing, or telephone. All are very effective.
Is this like therapy?
In the traditional sense, no. I am not a therapist. The work I do is creative healing. Via the art of writing and the ability to mirror you back to you in the writing, as well as support your vision, I help you to know yourself at a profound level that is quite unmistakable. When you find this self, it is a gentle, calm, relaxed and remarkably peaceful presence. We'll both know when you've arrived there.
What I do is a bit like teaching you to fish rather than giving you fish! Once you find your voice, which is my ultimate goal, you will never lose it. Our time together is to show you yourself and your voice. That alone, is the healing. The rest will be up to you.
My philosophy is that you are quite perfect, I just get to show you that perfection!
How much do you charge?
I work on a sliding scale. I set my hourly rates between $90 - $120.00. I leave it to your own level of comfort to pay what is best for your own budget. I do ask for three appointments, in advance and I ask you to commit to your appointments and your process. I do not give refunds for your pre-set appointments but will happily move your appointments, when there are scheduling conflicts.
