Ghandi on Women:

Ahimsa means infinite love, which again means infinite capacity for suffering. Who but women, the mother of man, shows this capacity in the largest measure?

If by strength is meant moral power, then woman is immeasurably man�s superior. Has she not greater intuition, is she not more self sacrificing, has she not greater powers of endurance, has she not greater courage? Without her man could not be. If nonviolence is the law of our being, the future is with woman. Who can make a more affective appeal to the heart than woman?

If only women will forget they belong to the weaker sex. I have no doubt that they can do infinitely more than men against war. Answer for yourselves what your great soldiers and generals would do, if their wives and daughters and mothers refused to countenance their participation in militarism in any shape or form.

I am firmly of the opinion that India�s salvation depends on the sacrifice and enlightenment of her women.
